Probably won’t win any awards for this, but it seems to me the dad should suck it up, pay for the window, and take the amount out of Maria’s allowance (if she gets one) or her paycheck (when she gets one). It was an accident after all.
My daughter got in an auto accident, totally her fault. I did just that, paid the deductible, got it back from her, and making her pay the difference in the increased insurance premium.
Of course my daughter knew better than to reply to me as Maria did. She (1) is older and can filter her speech, and (2) could tell that, even though I did not say so, I was pi$$&d.
