Big Pharmacy: Are you overly suggestible? Does our frequent advertising of prescription drugs fill you with symptom paranoia?? If so. You may want to ask your doctor about...
A study was conducted among doctors who prescribed anything the patient asked for. When asked why, the number one answer was: Because it would take too long to explain why the patient’s suggestion was a bad idea.
“Medicare part D was the best thing that ever happened to big Pharma. They’re cleaning up from pill popping seniors.”
That isn’t working as well as it might for them. The insurers are refusing to cover physician ordered meds, and seniors aren’t buying, since they are mostly on fixed incomes.
They got a little out of sync on that one. Maybe BigPharma will be sufficiently annoyed to take time off from inventing new conditions to treat us for, and fight for their share of the pie. Maybe then more of us can get the medication we need, instead of the meds they want to feed us.
“But, doctors too watch TV , probably less than we do…they are smarter…:”
They don’t need to watch TV. BigPharma delivers their marketing (and samples) right to their offices.
And, of course, now they have WebMD to guide their prescribing habits … we probably aren’t supposed to know that WebMD is financed by BigPharma and other entities with a vested interest in peddling bad medical practise, and destructive drugs.
We are the subjects of medical experimentation. With the full complicity of our government.
Totally accurate and perceptive ’toon, but those conned by the corporate machine, or just “dittoheads” will never understand, or accept their own failure to make contact with any reality.
btw: There’s also the fact they invent a drug, then have to invent a medical condition that needs it. Interesting too that they come out with a drug for a disease, find out it’s ineffective, so they then find ANOTHER condition FDA will let them sell it for !!

YMMV, of course.
