Red states have seen growth that seems spectacular in terms of percentage of growth & share of state GDP, but they are still far behind the traditional manufacturing centers like Ohio, Michigan & Indiana in real numbers. Keep in mind that things like refining oil, making oil products, making food & tobacco products (light ’em up, N.C.!) count as manufacturing jobs here. Most durable goods are still made in northern states. ^^^You must have different immigrants…..Mine now are the south of the border type, but they do make the best homemade tamales.Same as pirogies, the tamale has to be a real homemade one.Also like pirogies, not something you can just whip up in 5 minutes either.
