Sweet Jesus, the man was polite and civil at a funeral memorial and you’re getting mad at him for that ?!?!?! You people have absolutely no sense of civility left.

Thatcher, who retired in 1990? And who President Obama has never met?

NFL Redskins made that up. There is no evidence, of course. Castro gave a speech, for Pete’s sake, it would have taken an idiot to not know who he was, and Obama is no idiot. NFL is thinking of Herman Cain, who didn’t know the president of Uzbekibekibekistanstan.

Obozo didn’t have time for British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher however. In 1981, Thatcher sent Christmas cards to Fidel Castro, Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein, Pinochet, and Kim Il-Sung. Obviously, she was undeserving of respect by your standards.

As one example of the hypocrisy of “them guys”, I’m more bothered by Rumsfeld et al securing for Saddam his chemical weapons, than the handshake.

Diplomacy has often led to odd “handshakes”, not a problem. It’s the covert deals often made that are the real problem, and treason, like well “Jolly Ollie” and Iran/Contra, PLUS setting up Noriega and others in business, then finding the “relationships” a bad marriage, and calling for a “no fault” divorce in the eyes of the people (voters). But don’t worry, Ollie, and others, did walk off with the cash, so they did well in the eyes of their “faithful”.

I think McCain’s comments were absurd.

That said, one of the differences in shaking Gorbachov’s hand vs shaking Castro’s hand was that the US at least had diplomatic relations directly with the Soviet Union. We do not have formal relations with Cuba.

Personally, though, I’d like to see us lift the embargo, because I believe it actually gives the Cuban regime an excuse on which to blame the country’s poverty. Remove the embargo, and there’s still not going to be any change in the poverty level, and there will be no more excuses.

“George H.W. Bush shaking hands with Noriega, ETC…ETC…ETC…”

G.W. Bush holding hands with Faud … hmm .. might not have been Faud, but a Saudi Prince of the Blood, in any case …

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Sometimes a handshake is just a handshake. At all times an opportunity to make political hay will be taken.

The type of criticism thrown at Obama, the last four years is all the proof I need that conservatives should never be allowed anywhere near power. On top of that they are paranoid and have no memory…

Sounds like McCain forgot about his “Investigative Trip” to Syria, where he wanted to find Assad’s chemical weapons and talk with the Syrian Rebels.

He posed for pictures, only to find out later that some of those rebels he posed with were members of Al Qaeda.

    Opps!!
