If you want fewer illegals, prosecute those who hire them. I don’t remember the Heritage Foundation or any of the right wing organizations taking that position.-Or any Republican, anywhere. -Or, am I wrong about that?

I think it is perfectly reasonable to allow all illegals to become citizens if:.They pass the SAT with a 1400 or better..Can pass a reading test that involves writing an essay of no less than 5,000 words about Proust..Pass a detailed physical exam showing that they are in excellent health..Show that they are employed and making at least miminm wage..That would simplify the process greatly as the 1 or 2% that could possibly manage that would make excellent citizens. The other 98% can be deported.

“I could care less about IQ per se. What I care about is not legalizing what amounts to a mostly stupid criminal population of people unable to function in society successfully.” Hmm. Stupid. That’s a funny way not to care about IQ. (It’s better to say “I couldn’t care less”, unless you really mean “I could care less”, that is, “I care a lot but I could care less”.)

and, exactly how or why would people who are illegal ‘suck off the welfare system"? if ya’ can’t produce the proper paperwork, ya can’t get anything. obviously, you’ve never had a job in the welfare, social security or any other system. or tried to sign up for any of the above.

but, then, you’ve also not tried your hand at seriously hard stoop labor either.

Why is it that snobs always talk about Proust?+I learned a lot from a cowboy who worked on my uncle’s ranch — this was in 1962. He certainly could not have passed Enoki’s test. He didn’t “pass” the SAT with 1400 because he didn’t get past grade ten. He certainly had never heard about Proust. But he knew a lot about how things work and how to fix them, and he knew a lot about horses. I’m very suspicious of people who talk about “smart”. Somebody gets a good SAT and starts to think that’s what matters. I have nothing against academic ability, in fact I admire it, but I don’t exalt it as if it were the be all and end all. I admire a lot of things, including just being a good person. And I believe that anyone who is willing to work deserves a decent life, even “stupid” people.

Ya, let’s add 12 Million mostly under-educated, low-skill people to our already horrible job market!Oh and I’m sure most of them will also be eligible for Obama’s Healthcare Welfare too!So less jobs for our working poor that libs always say they’re protecting AND higher taxes to care for all these new illegals.Great idea!

And there is Obama shaking hands with Raul Castro! Will Obama ever realize, that Castro and Chavez really are not that cool?

Of course Obama Care may be as murderous, as Chavez , Castro and that African President whose wife, "Winnie Mandela was fond of neck lacing her enemies. But then Communists are faultless!

With illegals the following is true:They have been arrested at least once and on average have 7 arrests. If you were the smart guy you think you are, you’d realize those statistics refer to illegals who have served prison time, not the general population. Unsurprisingly, Americans who have served time in prison are almost as uneducated & have similar criminal records. And, American born men are more likely to serve time than foreign born men…

I guess higher unemployment and lower wages does actually help the Democrats with more voters looking for freebies, so if that’s your only goal then good job!

Uncle Joe, nice attempt at distraction by diluting the illegal immigrant prison population with legal immigrants. Seperate the two. Rumbault and Ewing don’t.Yours is a red herring argument. I am only discussing ILLEGAL immigrants. ILLEGAL immigrants go to prison at over twice the rate legal citizens and legal immigrants do. They are 70% more likely to have committed a violent felony to get there too.

Oh, Uncle Joe, it is reports like this one that totally put to lie the apologists and sympathizers to illegal immigration like the American Immigration Council / Policy center..http://www.oig.dhs.gov/assets/Mgmt/OIG_06-33_Apr06.pdf

Why would someone wanting American citizenship need to pass a test in a French novelist? I was agreeing with you until you threw in Proust. Make them write a paper on an American. John Steinbeck or Henry David Thoreau would be my choices.

And perhaps no one told Obama who he was shaking hands with, so he did not really know it was a Castro.Though not true, you could spin a funny bit of satire out of the idea.DFR & Churchill shook hands with Stalin. Nixon shook hands with Fidel Castro in 1959. They turned out to be great pals. Kennedy shook hands with Krushchev in 1961 and discussed the difficulties of juggling wives & mistresses in the public eye.The handshake was a meaningless gesture. If Raul Castro decides to change course in Cuba (PROSPECTS FOR REFORM IN CUBA: IS RAÚL CASTRO SERIOUS ABOUT LIBERALIZING THE CUBAN ECONOMY?), we should be able to get over the fact that he’s a Castro & work with him.
