Am I the only one in the world who likes fruit cakes? I even like those cheap ones you get at 7/11.

Well, I’ve never tried the ones at 7/11, but I also adore fruit cake. I was particularly fond of the Jane Parker cakes from the old A&P. Back when I was much younger, and burning calories like a steam engine (full time job, two children under eight, plus a house and yard to keep up) I once ate an entire cake between Thursday night and Monday evening. Ate in plain, ate it toasted with butter, had it with cream cheese. Did everything but crumble it into my cereal.

Well…………fruitcake with Doc’s World Famous Nuclear Coffee sounds good! But it has to be one of those home made cakes, with lots of brandy to keep it moist. :))

I’ve had fruit cake…it’s not bad, I suppose.

As for Katey’s story, actually I think it could still work more successfully than Clayton gives it credit for.

I’ve never liked them, but I used to help my mother make hers. The rest of the family loved her fruitcake. From what I understand, the good ones can be wonderful, but the bad ones are truly horrible.

I think you are right to a point. Fruitcake has 2 hard K sounds, making it sound funny. It’s just like the city of Cleveland, been maligned for a laugh for quite some time.

For the same reasons, Bugs Bunny always missed his left turn at AlberKerKi. (sic) to show why it would be funny.

Finally, is there anyone who does not smile at the mere mention of the word cake?

So it appears that the lonely fruitcake has a fair number of friends after all. I guess it helps when you’re a bit nutty.
