Val: Too bad Christmas fell in the middle of the week. No one wants to be here.
ZZ
Val: Everyone looks over-tired, over-sugared and over-fed.
Man: BURP
Val: THIS is going to be a productive day...
Rena: Z
Which is why in Latvia, 23rd was exchanged with 14th, and 30th with 28th, so that instead of “2 free – 1 work – 3 free – 1 work – 2 free – 1 work – 2 free” we have “6 free – 2 work – 4 free”.
Why do you think most employers (the SMART ones) give their employees the day after Christmas as a extra day off?.Not only do they get through the sugar overload, but they come back much HAPPIER!
When I was a programming project leader, I scheduled December as if it were two weeks long. Between parties, potlucks, days off, long lunches, virtual half-days before Christmas and New Years and the inability to contact others for information for any of those reasons, anyone who expects 10 days’ work from their employees is either deluded or a slave driver. Maybe both.
christmas day should be moved to the last Thursday of the month, like Thanksgiving is. The day is irrelevant, as no-one knows for sure if and when the event actually occurred.
Ah but there are some workers who take the last of December to recover and have vacation time to relax. Then some workers sell the rest of their vacation back for extra money.
I work in a medical office. We were open today and I worked so others could go out of town for the holidays. But, there are always a lot of no shows the week between Christmas and New Year’s.

And you can take the day off as no one there will know the difference.

Yup, pretty much here at my office. Well, there is work going on, but the “breaks” seem to last longer than normal!
