And, those poor kids can’t expect anything from government drones either….

Bezos goes on the air with a pipe dream, and all the toonists jump to conclusions, and the “public” leaps off the cliffs of confusion and fear. “Self driving” cars may be closer to reality, and with what they’re already putting in cars to make them more dangerous, and drivers LESS skilled and LESS alert, and LESS focused, the technology trend is NOT all positive. BTW: in 1955, the GM Autorarma had the first Firebird, which was a turbine engined, self-driving car, that would follow copper strips laid in the highways. (But nobody wanted mass transit by trains, because they wanted their “independence”, and dependence on petroleum!)

Tigger: the drones would undoubtedly be limited to operating under 500 feet, like RC aircraft for this use, and not be allowed in controlled airspace where commercial flights, or civli aviation is flying. More concern over military and testing uses of much larger drones that are being allowed to operate surface to 30,000 feet. Police drones also don’t get the kind of clearance the military, or military R & D do.

… because, while Santa can deliver billions of packages for free in a single night, doing it one at a time by drone is cheaper and more efficient than that.
