LOL reminds me of an old Charles Addams cartoon— similar setup, but the little boy holding his mother’s hand is invisible, all you see are his clothes.

There’s an old Don Martin cartoon where a boy is drinking from his new chemistry set and becomes a werewolf, drinks another and turns back into a boy, and hears his mom coming. He quickly drinks another one, and turns back into the werewolf that he always was!

I once got a Chemistry set for Christmas. I never blew anything up, but I did create some noxious odors. So much so that my Mom banded me from the house once.

The boy looks like Mickey McGuire from Fontaine Fox’s “Toonerville Folks.” That would be appropriate, since Mickey was always the little trouble maker.

Ahhh, those were the days. Nothing like having a text book that includes the lines " ….who lost an eye and three fingers in the research" and then goes on to give a detailed description of how to synthesise the compound in question
