Loy Wells: You sound like that idiot “Flying Phil” Ghilardhi (sp?). who as BC Forestry minister in the 1970s said, “You can only do two things with a tree: cut it down or worship it.” The nickname came from his habit of using provincial aircraft to fly to fundamentalist meetings all over North America. His grandson currently owns the Dallas Stars hockey franchise. Other uses include: oxygen recharge through photosynthesis, erosion control by anchoring the soil, aesthetics, edible fruit, shade, wind breaks, and the list goes on far longer than the space available here.
