The GOP/TP cut food stamps from the farm bill. The GOP is responsible for that. Britt correctly assigns blame for that. As for the largess in farm bills, that became bipartisan decades ago. The proposed farm bill gives no help for the poor while changing commodity price supports to supporting farm owners’ incomes. Crop / disaster insurance will be income insurance. Lucky farmers. None of them will qualify for food stamps; their incomes are too high for that.

The corporate agriculture fraud has been going on for a long time, and a good deal of that “stamp act” payout, goes to them! Yep, let’s keep subsidizing tobacco growers, while spending in states and the fed to stop tobacco use.

Seriously? Food stamp cost is $85 billion, and cutting $5 billion (about 6 percent) is mowing children over? There is no such thing as a sacred program. There can’t be if we’re ever to get our spending under control.
