Arlo: Veterans Day started as Armistice Day!
Arlo: It commemorated the end of World War I, "The war to end all wars"!
Arlo: Of course, Armistice Day became irrelevant!
Arlo: Veterans Day will never have that problem!
This past Saturday was the final toast of Doolittle’s Raiders. They planned that the final toast would be when only two survivors remained but decided that since the 4 of them were in their 90’s and suffering ill health (one couldn’t travel to make the toast) they had better make the final toast this year.
I’m normally not very serious on here but as a 20 vet, I truly appreciate those before me and the young folks getting it done today. Navy Chief, Navy Pride.
Thank you seems so hollow to what you Vets have and are doing for our country. The sacrifice of your time, body and even life is more than what a mere Thank You can cover.
Again, thank you to all of our Vets. I wish Veterans Day was truly a holiday, not just another excuse to have a big sale. As Kea said, “as long as it’s profitable”.
I think every country that commemorates Armistice Day has renamed the commemoration. In the US, it got changed to “Veteran’s Day.” For most or all of the British Commonwealth (including countries no longer in that commonwealth), it is “Remembrance Day.”
I really wish Veterans Day would become irrelevant — that we would end war for all time, and none of our young people would have to suffer the trauma of war ever again.
Wouldn’t be wonderful if we lived in a world where there were no veterans! I appreciate what they have and are doing, but it is a real shame that they had to do what they did and what they are doing. May there come a day when the world will see real peace for everyone around the globe.

She never seems too interested when he goes on his history trivia monologues, but doesn’t discourage him, either. Bless her heart!

The way things are going with our government right now, I’m not too sure of that. Love the veterans, they are awesome.

Canada has Remembrance Day. No matter what you call it, never forget.

Arlo is correct, wars don’t go on forever, but war does.

In France, after the last French WWI veteran passed away in 2012, it has become Memory Day (Memorial?) for all the soldiers who died for France.

Show your appreciation of what veterans did by trying to be worthy of their sacrifices — and maybe an occasional “Thank you.”

How right you are!

My Dad is a Vietnam Vet who did 2 tours. He got a hug and a “thank you” from me this morning.
It makes me sad to think that we will always have wars, and hence, more veterans. I wish no one had to go through what he did.

Spoke too soon, Arlo. Today the left hates Veterans and is doing everything they can to make Vets suffer and cancel them.
