my husband has hair and he wears a hat every morning on his walk. Keeps his head warm when it is cold and since it has a light built into the bill, he can use it to help guide his way.

Being nearly bald from thyroid problems, I find a wig serves the same purpose.

You lose a lot of heat through your head, even with hair.

Most important parts to keep warm are head and neck followed by feet. Ben could find a hat or cap that fits his style, though. No one would believe the variety of them I’ve seen between old family photos and my re-enactment friends.

Air temperature has no connection with getting sick. This is an Old Wives Tale. Colds/flu are caused by a virus. While you may lose a small amount of body heat through your scalp, it is not enough to make a difference. Your body is self-regulating and will easily replace it.
