As much as so called “liberals” complained back when the so called “Patriot Act” was enacted and so called “conservatives” complain now, the sad truth is both Republicans and Democrats voted for the expanded powers to spy on the citizenry. Almost no congressman voted against it. Take a good look at the voting records. If the congressmen you voted for voted for these expanded powers, then you are partly you blame. If you continue to vote for those congressmen and they do nothing to curtail those aforementioned powers, you are to blame for the continuation.BTW, same goes for the deficit. Take a good look at the pork barrel spending your favorite congressman slips into bills.

I was against the Patriot Act then and I was against its extension and expansions of power. Part of the reason I oppose it is, as you said, powers are rarely given up once they’re obtained.
^ Not a big Reagan fan (after all, the first thing he did as governor of California was to RAISE sales taxes by 25%!), but I think he’s generally correct in that quote.-I don’t remember him dismantling any California OR Federal government programs.-There may have been a couple, and maybe you can cite them, but I can’t remember any. -If he eliminated any in California, Mickey might know.
