I am getting really tired of this extended scene in the cosmetics department. I hope this topic ends soon.

Why would someone who is so concerned about her appearance go around wearing readers???

Women wear it for other women. Very few men care. Except those conditioned to think painted ladies are advertising.

It’s all part of the human obsession with denying (or avoiding) reality. (mortality)

It’s just live Photoshop in 3D. I had a girlfriend from TX once who would not go down and get the mail without “doing her face”. Fun, though. She aimed to please.

I’m also bored with this week. I want the kids to age. I want to see Phil marry Val and Holly. I don’t know why Jan keeps things status quo. You can only do so much with Lucy and Max not talking.

Oops didn’t proofread my typing. Meant to say Phil marry Val and Holly to enter high school.

This strip is PERFECT just the way it is and should just stay that way.

My husband prefers I don’t wear makeup – he doesn’t like getting it on him when we cuddle. So I’ve only worn makeup for dramatic productions since we’ve gotten married. Saves a bunch of money & time!Figured I’m trying to please him, not everyone else. I don’t mind if other women wear a little bit of makeup that enhances their looks, but the ones that wear enough eyeliner they look like raccoons, or colors that don’t go well with their skin tones aren’t attractive.

What I don’t understand is the obsession with expensive is better/ works better. A little research on Val or Rena’s part would have them in a grocery store spending ALOT less and getting better results instead of a department store risking chemical burns and insolvency.

I’m with Val. The cosmetic industry is just another bid to make women feel inadequate and separate them from their funds.

I do wear makeup on special occasions … weddings, say, and on the stage. The rest of the time, if you don’t like the way I look, don’t look. I earned every one of these wrinkles honestly.

My wife learned to put on makeup correctly – where it doesn’t appear to be there. The lady next door always wore the thick blue eye shadow(like Mimi). Her daughter used to babysit for us and asked for help before going to a middle school dance. Her mother really blew it when she saw how proper makeup and clothes can turn a preteen into a twenty something.
