Transcript:
Enterprising Afghans are selling their voter registration cards for $5 to corrupt warlords and politicians. (Man: We cast your vote you save the trip and lunch on us!) This is prompting some to ask: is Afghanistan really ready for Democracy? To which we say: Hell yes! After all, $5 is more than these Americans got for their participation in Democracy: (Woman: Lunch? That'd be nice.) (Man: I'd settle for a snack.) Lost job in 2009: Unemployed since no federal job program. (Man: Actually, Obama sent me $58,000- in a drone mi$$ile.) Blown up by U.S. drone while looking for his dad in the desert. Lost home to illegal bank foreclosure; no govt. Action. (Woman 2: I totes want my vote back- but I'll take $5.) voted for Al Gore in 2000; vote counted for Bush.

The United States, like all capitalist countries, is ruled by an oligarchy, and always has been. These money-driven elections are a farce. Let us not confuse “democracy” with oligarchy. We have certain democratic rights – the Bill of Rights – that the oligarchs were forced to concede to us through protest – but that is not the same as demo-cracy, rule by majority. Otherwise, unemployment, poverty, injustice, and war would be abolished.

“I totes want my vote back”What does that mean, Ted??

Unfortunately, I do. We seem to pick the worst and the second worst person in the country to run it, and then get to choose between them.

What are the chances Gore would have taken us into Iraq? Thousands of lives saved, billions of dollars not wasted. Worth a try.

Yea, but if the percentage of voters that actually do is any indication there are on hell of a lot of smart Americans!

I’m just an old Dead Head, who as a former teacher is somewhat bemused by what texters & tweeters do to the English language & I figured out ‘totes’ immediately. What I couldn’t fathom is what an umbrella had to do with it.

“Dems round up homeless bums and buy their votes for a pack of cigs and a drink.” Can you document that with a reliable reference or is that just another mindless right wing nut sound bite?

Just another wing nut being contemptuous of the general public and showing his true colors.

This comment illustrates the international opinion of american ignorance. I take it you have never read Al Jazeera, but decide based upon that it is middle eastern that it is therefor evilhttp://www.aljazeera.com/Perhaps I can next get a post to exemplify the classic anti-intellectualism

$3,700,000,000,000 over five years? Assuming 365 days in a year and a population of 350mill, this ends up with every citizen paying an average of $5.79 a day for your welfare system. Seems reasonable enough to me. I know people who spend more than that on friggin’ coffee.

While it’s fun to point out “American elitism” because they call themselves Americans it’s not that at all. It’s not egotism that makes Americans the accepted name for those from the United States of America. It’s common standard developed by peoples of all countries. Simply put, Americans is easier to say than United Statesians.

“Public knowledge. Or you could google it yourself. Go for it!” I asked you to prove it, not for some trite BS. I guess those were just more empty words. Typical right wing nut.

“It has been a painful life watching the country I once loved, the only nation on the planet to go to the moon, go to hell.” I know what you mean. This country (and world) could be so much better, but instead the country that successfully brought Apollo 13 back (I consider that to be a better achievement than the moon landing) can’t even stop sh___ing in its own bed and has turned half the population into economic basket cases.

Perhaps he’s saying Gore would be better than Obama. If there was a President Gore, there would probably be no President Obama.

If Gore had been elected, gas would now cost $1000 a gallon, Osama bin Laden would be launching drones on Washington, and we wouldn’t even have gallons because he would have switched us to the godless metric system!!! Just try to find “liter” in the Bible.
