At some point the can is going to be bigger than the truck then what? This can not keep going on forever. At some point those we are borrowing all this money from are going want it back. We came to this country and kicked the natives off their land. Does the same fate await us?

I can’t speak for other states but here in Colorado the rates are pretty insane. The Gov. site immediately directed me to the local states ones. In my neck of the woods (western Colorado) its $933 a month for a single male with $2000 deductible with copays who does not smoke and is 59 years old. My last premium before I went on Medicare (yes I am old) was almost $900 a month.

Someone needs to explain to me how this is affordable healthcare.

If the truck had a “How’s my driving” phone number, there would be no one in congress to answer the phone. It is congress that was supposed to build and design an affordable healthcare plan that would lower the rapidly increasing costs while protecting citizens. Mr. Obama has shown some poor driving techniques and his ACA needs a LOT of work, but taking that truck off of the road prevents it from delivering product to millions in need. It’s time for the congress to recognize the NEED for an ACA that works and make it do so. If it is defunded/dismantled/killed, I have seen NO evidence in the last thirty years that Republicans would create something to replace it, at least, not for poor people. And to the person above who complained about the failed roll out costing 400 million dollars, the shutdown cost the gov’t alone 60 times that at 24 billion. That does not include costs to businesses who depended on workers to show up and use paper, ink, and need to buy food and drinks. Both parties are wasting too much money. Accusing the other side does no good unless you are also taking “YOUR” side to task as well. In a two party system, it takes both parties working under the instructions of their constituents to make changes. Respectfully,C.

Conservatives always warn us about everything because they’re basically afraid of everything. What’s it like to live that way?

I can live with your explanation. Very well thought out and well stated. And you didn’t resort to calling President Obama a terrorist or a Kenyan. There’s not much about fox “news” I can get behind, but I think we can have intelligent discourse.

Not Funny. Get your head out of the lie. In fact it is now projected that Obamacare will raise the debt 18 Billion over the next 10 years. http://news.investors.com/politics-obamacare/071213-663449-obamacare-boosts-deficit-in-first-decade.htm

And you obviously have no problem with waste and fraud involving corporate welfare. Obviously, you have problems, just not about that!

Actually I work for a pretty decent company that pays for 80% of our healthcare coverage. Going into Obamacare they intend to do the same, but because the plans are much more expensive they had to alter what was offered and by whom. Not to mention, had they kept us in our existing plan they would not only have had to pay extra for that coverage (as would the employees) but they would have also been saddled with the 40% Cadillac tax that Obamacare demands for those that offer premium coverage (the gov’t seems to feel the need to punish those that desire better plans). None of which makes good business sense. Remember, along with employee welfare, manufacturing companies still have to meet other obligations like overhead, insurance, Research and Development, Infrastructure improvements, etc. as well as still turn a profit. If these items are not satisfied the company will fail and no one will be employed.

It is interesting to note that the plan I referred to earlier that NY state offers at $1,228.31 costs more than my previous “Cadillac Plan” and offers significantly less.

I do not have a TV so do not know what Fox or any of the other tv news outlets happen to be spewing, but you seem to paint Fox with a broad brush with no facts to back up your assertion. I do know that “all” the people I have talked with thus far are paying more for less. My wife and I have also talked to a number of doctors in the past few months and none of them favor Obamacare and many are nervous about what it portends.

As for the republicans, they are probably almost as responsible for this debacle as are the democrats. There are few on either side that seem to have the best interest of the people in mind. If you think that the Democrats are clean from influence by the insurance and drug companies then I have to believe you are strictly a party man unwilling to look at what is going on objectively.

I believe something had to be done with healthcare, but Obamacare is not it. It was rammed through Congress with no one getting an opportunity to assess the absolute merits or faults. Statements like Pelosi’s “We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it” exemplify the rash manner in which this was handled. This was a Democrat power grab plain and simple and the American people will suffer for it.

I too feel obligated to help those that through no fault of their own are unable to make ends meet. They should be offered a strong hand up…not a hand out. I feel no such obligation to support those that refuse to be personally or morally responsible for their actions; and if you feel the numbers of this latter category are minimal then again I must say your vision is severely occluded by your liberalism.
