Why don’t they just put Caulfield on “Independent Study”?(or don’t they have that in third grade?)

Caufield could probably teach the math class.

Caulfield would never do independent study if he was told to. He only pursues it because he’s not supposed to.

My English teachers were my favorite people. They were intelligent, involved, and really cared for us. I’m sorry for those commenters here who had a bad experience, but the trite old saying, “Those who can, do. Those can’t do, teach.” indicates that the speaker can probably do neither. I like the bumper sticker that states: If you can read this, thank a teacher."

Granted, there are teachers who should choose another profession—some don’t even like kids. And there are those I wouldn’t want teaching my kids because even the kids are smarter than they are. But the simple truth is there are competent and incompetent folks in all professions. Unfortunately some of you were exposed to the latter.
