Just tell her it’s forbidden to go into the carrier.

Wrap the cat in a towel no where near the cage. Do NOT let go. Have the cage brought to you. Slide in with towel, shut door.

Our carrier sits in the corner of the living room, door open. Either of the furries can be found sleeping in it occasionally. I can scoop up, tuck in and shut door since we started this with no claws now. I think part of the issue most have is the “Why are you putting me in a box? I didn’t do anything, but you said you loved me” drama.

The towel thing works well. Another approach is to stand the crate on end, open side up. Basically, you lower the cat down into the crate, tail first. Usually much less hassle and fighting that way.

We were taking our feral cat & her kittens to a friend’s farm. (They were living in our garage.) Since we couldn’t get hold of the mother cat, my husband went through the house and around the outside of the closed garage to the cat door. He held the cat carrier with the door open right against the cat door. With our sons’ help, I chased the mother cat until she ran through the cat door to escape, but ended up in the cat carrier instead. She was pretty rambunctious, until we put the kittens in the cat carrier with her.

Buy an open top carrier. Helps a ton.
