Nice tank. It has no weapons, it has no fuel, and Obama is probably the only one in it… but it makes a good door stop and if Boehnor insists on a head on collision while his car is on “Cruz Control”, then Boehnor’s in trouble. I am curious…How many conservatives posting in GC believe that there will be no significant consequences if Congress doesn’t raise the debt ceiling? On a separate question…How many readers on GC believe that a top to bottom audit of gov’t agencies, contracts, and clients would be beneficial?Curiously,C.

“Audits happen continuously in the gov’t, by the GAO and others”.

This is true. And what happens as a result of the audits? Nothing that I can see. There is no amelioration of problems, there is no streamlining of regulations, there is no cancellation of wasteful projects and contracts. I remember Senator Henry “Scoop” Jackson and his Golden Fleece awards: they made great press, but nothing happened in the end.

Amazing! Benson got it right! Obama is a narcissistic, overbearing, dictator with delusions of greatness. That is how he sees the world.Unfortunately, the world sees him as the cartoonish impotent and incompetent leader he actually is.Thanks Benson!

I have no problem with Congress raising the debt ceiling and producing a budget. What I have a problem with is handing Obama a blank check on both like he demands.

With the military metaphor in the ‘toon, I suggest a simple start on deficit reduction: eliminate the $1.3 TRILLION now obligated for the F-35 that is a piece of junk… AND don’t spend the billions to “retrofit” tanks the Army doesn’t want, or need, let alone buy more new ones, to be put in storage!

Kinda makes you wonder why, when the government is hemorrhaging money, our hawkish legislators voted to purchase another 3000 tanks, which will join the other 2000 we have in the Nevada desert, never to be used, solely because the project provided jobs in Ohio.Who’s in trouble now? The American taxpayer. Both parties are willing to spend money we don’t have to pay for solutions to problems that don’t exist.

I’m amazed that you or any republican or conservative would admit that.

“We haven’t funded obamacare.” HAHAHA! Do you not read? It is operating NOW! This didn’t stop the Affordable Care Act; that was the point, to try and force Obama to defund his own accomplishment — which was voted on and approved by BOTH houses of Congress, and declared Constitutional by the Supreme Court. So, no, total failure. I look forward to your campaign to defund the GOP.

“We have more than enough cash to pay our debts. Revenues are flowing into federal coffers. ….”-If I understand your post correctly (I’m sure I’ll get corrected), it’s your belief that even if we breach the debt ceiling, we won’t default because there is enough revenue to pay the interest and there will be plenty of non-essential expenses that will not be paid.-You also might consider that even when breaching the debt ceiling is threatened, the price buyers are willing to pay for our debt drops dramatically, which substantially increases the amount of interest the government must pay. -Those cuts will be way deeper than you realize. And it won’t be pretty. -Last time our credit rating was downgraded, causing significant economic damage. If we breach the debt ceiling, our credit rating will be very damaged and if we default, even a little, there will be serious, serious trouble.-But, I guess that’s okay, if it can be blamed on Obama.

Ansonia: Ford motor company went from building cars to building bombers for WW II, and after the war switched back to cars. Yes, there is conversion time (Ford has also built tanks in the past) but the argument on not shutting down production for what we don’t need, is moot.

So, the “checkbook is in the car”? You’re actually admitting the deficit is caused by the republicans? THANK YOU!
