My dog used grasshoppers to play catch with. He would roll on to his back and let the bug jump out of his mouth and then try to catch it before it would hit the ground. This would work a few times before he would squish it.
We have a couple cats who love to toss toys in the air and bat them around. The soft ones are fine, but our little manx has managed to bounce his 2 inch rubber jacks off my husbands forehead when he (husband) is asleep on the couch.
