the tea party think they are the establishment, but they are not. it is like thinking a respected brain doctor got his degree from stony brook, but he got it from Guadalajara in rheumatology.
I don’t understand. The census (that decides congressional districts) was completely controlled by the White House under the personal direction of Rahm Emanuel. This was never done before. Now it is the Republican’s fault??
Which party rails for minority voting districts? Which party wants to ensure majorities of voters to keep their people getting reelected year after year? Which party wants all identification requirements dropped for voter registeration and getting a ballot at the polls? Which party wants same day voter registration and mail in ballots?
Gerrymandering? Try election rigging and it ain’t the TEA Party doing that…!
Although all posters here have made good points, none of this should really be considered until our voting machines are no longer designed to be easily hacked with no ability to trace. As Mr. Stalin noted: it only matters who COUNTS the votes.
how about a requirement the all electoral districts meet three simple requirements 1) that they have approximately the same population (exactly the same is desirable but not possible in reality) 2) that the perimeter of the district be minimized, thus eliminating some of the very creative shapes I have seen. 3) that the district be contiguous.

In Ohio 50% voted Democrat and 47% voted Republican. Yet 75% of our representatives in the House are Republican, because of gerrymandering.

They certainly would not control the House.

“The Same illegal voting machines that were used to elect Obama twice?”
Yes. And Bush once. And more in the future. Don’t know that it’s illegal, unfortunately, but it ain’t right, regardless.
