Karogta Military Prison in Liepaja, Latvia, which closed in the 1990s, is now a hotel where guests can experience life as a Soviet union era convict- rooms include a bench, toilet and cold water only! The Greater Honeyguide bird of East Africa leads humans to colonies of bees so that they can feast on the honey after the bees are driven away. Siblings Drake, Royce, and Dakota Mifsud of Ontario, Canada, were all born on September 9th- in 2010, 2011, and 2012 respectively!

Family members started doing some calculations and they believe conception for all three took place on December 4 — Mifsud’s birthday.
“We dated it back. That’s the boyfriend’s birthday, so this year, we’re taking him fishing,” Grandfather Duane Hebert chuckled.

Congratulations to the Mifsud family, but so far, my family in Arkansas has you beat by 1! My three brothers and I were all born on October 27 but different years — in 1954, 1956, 1959 and 1963. We made it into Ripley’s in 1964. The birth of our little sister broke the string.

Last March, I toured New Zealand and spent my last night at the Jailhouse Accommodation in Christchurch, a hostel indeed converted from a jail. It was more comfortable than some other places on the tour.
