Ted Rall for October 04, 2013
Transcript:
Poll 1/2 of Americans doubt they'll get a raise or a better job in the next 5 years. Woman 1: I know another layoff is coming. But the good news is, a crappy job is easily replaced. Woman 2: My degree is worthless. So my kids isn't going to college. That'll save some bucks. Woman 3: I always wanted to live more simply. Now I have no choice. Man: The new optimism.

Look on the bright side. Children can’t inherit their parents’ student loan debt. Yet.

We can always rely on trickle down, like the 2 or 3 drops down my leg every time I urinate.

When I was in the Army I was told that if you shake it more than once then you are playing with yourself.

Sad part is no matter who is in power, that will be true.

At least we have comfort in knowing that our elected public servants in the house and the senate have been able to get their raises during this recession. After all $170,000 a year just doesn’t go as far as it used to.

There is work that needs to be done. I think an economic system should be able to match up people who want to work with the work that needs to be done. How that happens I don’t care about so much, so long as it happens. I do think that history has some lessons, however — unregulated capitalism does not perform this task well, and massive central planning does not perform this task well, either. Experience would suggest that some kind of mixed system is preferable.

Hooray for Obamacare and the new horrible Obamaconomy! I’m about to retire for the second time and I’ll be looking for a 28 hour a week job with so-so wages and no benefits to keep busy. I bet I’ll have no end of offers!

Why be alone?

Just kidding. I was never in the military, so how would I know. But I suppose that people are people there just as they are everywhere. As Janis used to say, if you’re not with the one you love, love the one you’re with. She didn’t specify gender.

“..so, that’s a bad thing alone in your bunk?C’mon, now I was talking about urinating. I would at least go out to the hallway.

It peaked shortly after LBJ introduced the welfare state with his Great Society. That turned Social Security, a more or less standard retirement fund into a ponzi scheme. From there the federal government just grew and grew. The Department of Energy ruined our having cheap energy.OSHA and the EPA were necessary at the time but have morphed into monsters. Now there are even more of these intrusive agencies with their “zero tolerance” mentality that are making it possible for the 1% to remain entrenched while the rest of us have no chance of upward mobility.
Both parties are surely to blame but the worst of the lot are Progressive Leftists like Obama who stomp the accelerator on crushing government in our lives to the floor.
