Destroy the economy?I didn’t hear a single person at the office or at lunch even mention the government shutdown. Which btw was caused by the Democrats once again refusing to pass a budget.Maybe some of those 900,000 “non-essential” employees (whatever that means) should take a permanent vacation.

The country is living on borrowed $$. We are taking in about 200 billion a month, and spending much, much more, about 325 billion. Meanwhile, we are paying about 35 billion a month on “debt maintenance.” (Interest only @ avg 2.5 % -2012) If today’s artificially low interest rates go to historic 20 year normals – close 5.75%, about 1/3 of our “income” will be consumed by our “minimum credit card payment.” Massive draconian cuts or bankruptcy will be the only path forward.

Erskine Bowles forecasts over 1 trillion in yearly interest expense by 2020. (83 billion per month.)

If an average US family went to a bank with this income and liability statement, percentage wise – they couldn’t get a $100 loan.

Obviously, we can’t continue this forever. And the modest cuts proposed now, will look like a brush burn, compared to a leg amputation then.

There are two groups of republicans one is the ones that do not want women to become like miley or a cigar holder. And two the ones that want the government taxing us to death and giving out money to the people that sit on their buttts (kind of like England use to do ) And do not see where trying to lower the debt so our great grand children so not have to pay for the pension of government employees

TEA party folks are wiling to blow their own brains out, unfortunately, they have no target to aim at.

It was the TEA baggers and Boehner who led to this “shut down”, just a Republicans caused the other costly “shut downs” in the past, their REFUSAL to actually negotiate, claiming “My way or the highway” was their only “negotiation” they would accept. Which: first step should have been to shut down all federal highways, and all roads or power systems supported by federal projects or funding.

Who after all finds highways or electricity as “necessary”?

Health care protects our single greatest national resource, the people.

Many Republicans are claiming Democrats won’t negotiate. Didn’t we get into this mess by designing a health care law that Democrats hoped would be acceptable to Republicans?

Maybe Democrats should have proposed single payer. It works in much of the civilized world, and better than what we have here now.

It certainly seems like a simple, straightforward law could be explained to people more easily, too.
