Texas has no income tax, so the revenue is equal to the intelligence of the “average” Texan. It’s also interesting that 90% of the growth in Texas in the last four decades has been dependent on GOVERNMENT spending or largesse to the oil and gas industry! NASA (LBJ actually got that ball rolling) and other federal spending is their “base”.
Not noted by the secession brigade is that if Texas did, and the federal money left, the state would be instantly bankrupted.
If Texas would stop farming out their idiots, they wouldn’t get so much criticism. Interesting that when IN Texas, most Texans are rather polite, and actually seem to stop and think on occasion. It’s when they leave the state’s boundaries that they become the arrogant and boastful jerks that make them famous! Hmm, kinda’ like the arrogance of Americans abroad in general, who only go to the “most American” places they can find in every country, to learn about “other cultures”. (LIke expecting EVERYONE to speak English!)
