This aptly demonstrates Clay Bennett’s mental disorder. Though he obviously loathes Ted Cruz, he can’t even admit the reality of the situation. Millions upon millions of “ignorant, deluded, and racially-motivated” Americans love what Ted Cruz did. Sorry to say the club is larger than the Obama fake-Twitter accounts which number in the millions.
I don’t know if he’ll be voted out — he’ll pull a Palin and quit so he can run for president. It’s not like he’s actually doing anything in the senate anyway, except grand-standing, saying “No” to everything, and distributing those pathetically lame, easily disprovable lies that are so damaging to the credibility of what’s left of conservatism.
Regardless of party, regardless of categorization:
Anyone can be a politician, and talk about how bad things are.
Almost no one can be a statesman, and create a solution. I submit that there are no identifiable statesmen in Washington, DC. Nor are there any in my state legislature in Virginia. Perhaps ego and pragmatism are mutually exclusive. In any case, if we don’t find any statesmen soon, I see no good outcomes for the future of the USA.
The only power that exists for the average Joe is the voting booth. We have to stop voting for single issues and vote for longterm stability and growth as a society. John Huntsman was a perfect example: he’s pragmatic, has a lot of common sense, and was able to work with members of almost all factions of each party. In addition, he’s fluent in at least one Chinese dialect, with the additional experience of having been Ambassador to China (which I understand is a pretty powerful country and, as such, it wouldn’t hurt to be able to communicate with them on their level…does anyone but me wonder how much we can trust our translators?). Alas, he believed in science, and did not want to ban any and all abortion. As a result, even Rick Santorum and Michelle Bachmann (not to mention Mitt the Twit) outlasted him in the primaries.
A major transformation has to happen to our electorate. We have to learn how to do our homework (which starts with deciding which news sources we can trust to educate us), learn the issues and the consequences of the various approaches to each, weigh them against what we can know about the candidates, and vote accordingly.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled hate-fest.
Truly, I don’t know why I bother to spend time doing this. When I first found this site, there was a comment that still resonates with me, which I will re-word to reduce potential sensitivities: “Commenting on internet boards is like the Special Olympics: Even if you win, you’re still Special.” Despite this, I continue. Probably just to irritate a special subset of posters, and you know who you are.
Cruz: and ego in search of a body, and a brain. Texas gave us LBJ, Bush, Cheney, Perry, and Cruz. At least Johnson gave us the Civil Rights Act, that turned every “southern Democrat” (Dixiecrat) into a Republican, and TEA party nut trying to win back the Alamo. They also DID give us Charlie Wilson, who had the right idea, initially, to arm the Afghan rebels against Russian occupation, but then they ignored the REST of the story, and didn’t follow up to get Massood, or someone rational to take over, Instead we totally dropped the ball, and backed the wrong people.
