Dave should never have allowed a dog-hater in his bed in the first place!

I can sympathize. As much as I love my dogs and cats I can’t have them on my bed. Otherwise I’ll get absolutely no sleep.

If your parent doesn’t want your animals on the bed, you have two choices: 1) Tell them, “My bed, my animals. They are allowed on the bed & you have no say in the matter.” OR 2) Break up with them. Anyone who doesn’t like animals is not to be trusted anyway.

I have two dogs but I don’t let them sleep with me, I built them a nice two story indoor dog house for them to sleep in. On occasion if I sleep on the couch I’ll let them with me, but that is rare.

It does not mean I am a dog hater, I just can’t sleep if my bed is even slightly ichy and dogs tend to leave dust, and other bits of junk that make it itchy really easy.

There may be a good reason she doesn’t want the dog on the bed. My parents never allowed it, though we had two dogs for a few years. Mom was just a neat freak.

Sorry, I’m a big believer in the whole “alpha” male thing. Let the dog on an equal standing with you next thing they will want to eat food meant for humans. Not sure how that would work with cats. We have one now, but when I got married I asked my then fiance to leave the cat with her family. 25 years later, here we are.
