I loved it when the many ultra conservatives on this site at first accused President Obama of being a “War Monger” when he proposed using cruise missiles and RPV’s on the Syrian Military (and possible even Assad himself). President Obama had no intention of having our “boots on the ground” ever invade Syria. After all,we would have the Israelis to do that job if necessary!

Heck, he was not even going to risk the lives of our pilots, as he only sent navy missile vessels to that area, and sent no aircraft carriers (no aircraft carriers, then no piloted aircraft)! What he wanted to do he succeeded at brilliantly. And that was to scare both Assad and possibly even Putin into at least seemingly being reasonable about the Syrian chemical weapons.

And now those same ultra conservatives are accusing him of giving into Putin, and thus becoming a wuss!! I even saw some posts suggesting that we would be better off with a president named Putin. Yeah, that is correct. our freedoms (as fragile as they are anyway) would be so much better off in the hands of a guy that was the ex head of the Soviet KGB!!

Over all, a very reasonable post. My only negative is that president Obama is NOT even a Muslim, let alone an Islamist, he is a Christian. But he realizes that the US is indeed not under any obligation to protect the people of ANY religion. If we were to protect Christian religious minorities everywhere in this world, then we would have to be at war with a great many more countries than just in the Middle East!! Besides which, if Israel were to indeed invade and take over Syria, they would at least allow the Christians there free passage to leave Syria. When we invaded Iraq, there were some 2.5 million Christians living there under the relatively secular Saddam, but our invasion so angered the Muslims there (both Sunni and Shia) that the very name Christians became an anathema to many Muslims that originally were willing to live reasonably peacefully with those very Christians. And now there are less than 500,000 professing Christians in Iraq. So much for GW Bush and Company spreading Christianity to the Middle East!!

By the way, most of those professing Iraqi Christians went to Syria. Where there has been a large Christian presence since the time of the apostle Paul. There, only to be caught in the middle of a Muslim Civil War!!

You mean that a good Republican idea, can not then be supported by reasonable Democrats? If that is truly the case, (and the other way around also) then this country really is in deep trouble!!
