Focus on maldistributed income — so skewed we are screwed — and unemployment. The Tea Party is blocking progress on these issues.

You are correct that people need to read the bills before they vote on them. (We do need to be fair, though: how many posters read your mortgage agreement/rental agreement/loan contract/condo agreement before signing?) Witness the PATRIOT acts, both 1 and 2, and NDAA. Maybe the people are waking up to the dangers of passing laws that are largely written by lobbyists and passed with little discussion and little notice. Unfortunately, I do not think members of Congress have figured that out. To be fair, fund-raising takes so much of their time, it’s just not right to ask our representatives to do their jobs in addition. Perhaps we should be more understanding.
Meanwhile, if they haven’t read the law, maybe it’s time they did. Repealing Obamacare will only return us to a system that is almost finished collapsing. This is not a positive. Either Obamacare needs to be fixed, most egregious sections first, or replaced with something better. I see neither initiative in motion, and that bodes poorly for almost every aspect of life in this country.
It is up to us to turn up the heat on our legislators, and demand they do their jobs or pack out their offices in anticipation of the next occupant. Perhaps the punishment of having to read the bill in order to do something about it will teach them a lesson, but I have my doubts.
Perhaps, but mostly he is Goldmann-Sachs scum. Watch the revolving door between Wall Street and treasury jobs; same people cycle back and forth. This is not exclusive to Obama, nor exclusive to Bush. It’s been going on far too long, and it’s not like it hasn’t been recognized.
We need to restore Glass-Steagle, at the very least, to protect our banking system. Next step, don’t give the wolf the keys to the henhouse. Seems simple enough on paper….
I respectfully suggest that Mr. Cruz, Mr. Paul, and Mr. Reid have had a fender bender and Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Boehnor rear ended them and they’re so busy arguing over whose fault it is they won’t push their cars out of the way so the rest of the country can get moving. With a little effort, I could probably find some more names from both sides of the aisle who are contributing to the stand still. And sadly, our ‘traffic cop’, the President, has his focus in so many places he’s not doing all he could on this issue.On a separate note, I just got a mixed bag letter from My Congressman, Scott Rigell. He voted against the latest bill from the House because it failed to end the sequester AND it failed to stop the stop gap spending bills that are making it hard for CEOs to make decisions on hiring and other matters. On the other side of the coin, he does support defunding the ACA. I just finished replying to him prior visiting GC. By today’s standards, the man is almost a moderate, I hope his party doesn’t punish him.Respectfully,C.
Point well taken. I thought I had enclosed that phrase in quotation marks. But never mind. No one posts here with the expectation that anyone is going to be persuaded who isn’t already on his side. That’s the great pity of it all. We are all preaching to the choir. Thought I also understand the one who said “I don’t state my opinion with the expectation that I will change anyone’s mind. I do it so that those who see things as I do won’t feel alone.”

Nice comeback, but my statement still stands. The CBO study of ACA indicates that the bill will REDUCE the debt, not increase it.
