I bet there was a note on the brownies saying “Earl, do not eat; they’re for the bake sale”, but Earl secretly swiped some of them.

Earl’s right. There are certain mistakes that are worth repeating, like marriage,

@beviekYou may possibly be interpreting your psychic powers correctly. What’s the Frank Sinatra song It Was A Very Good Year ?

Ah, good old bash the feminists nonsense. If a woman doesn’t want to spend her life picking up a guy’s dirty underwear she’s a drunken, drug-abusing, whore. An idea that’s kept women as sub-human slaves for 2000 years now.

I read somewhere that marriage is the leading cause of divorce.

Opal needs to bake the brownies for the bake sale and then take them to where they will be sold immediately, not leave them on the counter for Earl to take. When I used to make pumpkin bread for a bake sale I’d make one loaf for my husband. If I didn’t he’d bellyache but he didn’t steal it.

Boy, one simple crack, and I opened up a hornets nest ! For some marriage works the first time tried. For others, it doesn’t work at all. Then there are those for whom practice makes perfect……………..As we mature, so does our criterion for a life companion, a soul mate, someone to share with both the joys and sorrows of life. Sometimes, we don’t find this person until we have reached our autumnal years. Our view then, is mellowed by experience, mutual respect, and realistic expectation. At this stage of life the commitment really is " in sickness and in health – til death do us part ".

Most of the fun in reading the comments is watching the comments morph from the ‘toon to commenting on the comments. It’s more interesting than watching ants. Ants are predictable.

I remember way back in 1970 (ish) a well known “easy lay” asking me outright for sex. She was well “off” on something but I always had high standards (missed out on a lot) so told her to **** off. She said something like " ’S cool" and went on her way. I saw her many years later with several kids, looking a right mess..Should I have rescued her? Nah.
