In order to get up for a drink or whatever you have to throw your weight around and change your center of gravity, operate the foot rest with downward leg pressure, flex your stomach muscles bringing your upper body forward, simultaneously pressing down on the arm rests, bring your body forward and upward in a motion resulting in your being raised to a standing position as you pull your legs under your body weight and maintain your balance. Reverse the procedure to sit down.

The exercise caloric expenditure is complementary to that burned in going 2 km. on a stationary recumbent bicycle.

Caution – When returning to the standing position you may experience difficulty in regaining you balance if you focus your eyes on complex moving graphic images. Closing your eyes during this time is not advised.
