I got rid of my own landline a year or two ago. It made no sense to have two phones when I live alone.

We’re keeping our land line for the simple reason that, of the four of us, I am the only one in the house who even tries to keep track of my cellphone. If I’m out, and try to call any of the others, even when I know they are at home, they’ve either forgotten to charge theirs, turned them off, or put them on silent and left them somewhere out of sight. If nobody answers the land line, then at least I know there’s no-one home. In fact, the fastest and surest way of getting to anyone in my household is usually to log on to Facebook and send them a message to pick up the bloody phone ;)

Power goes out – land line keeps working. Out very long, cell doesn’t get charged.

I wish I could cut off my landline but my cell doesn’t have reception at home.

I cancelled my land-line telephone many years ago – haven’t missed it. If I need to make the long phone call (the ones that can gobble up your minutes on your mobile plan) there are always payphones or Google’s free telephone system.

Why pay for a landline when you don’t need it?

I actually did the opposite. I got rid of my cell phone years ago. Couldn’t remember to carry it with me and hardly ever used it.

The only people who call our landline are wrong numbers and relatives. Would get rid of it but it came bundled with the internet, cable etc.
