I always liked when my sister went on vacation and I got to babysit her dogs! (I can’t imagine putting a family member in jail for 2 weeks while you’re on vacation…)
That’s why you hire a petsitter, like me! Your pet gets to stay home, where he/she knows the noises, has its favorite bed and toys, gets fed, goes outside when it needs to, gets walks, and gets company 3, 4, 5 times a day. I take care of meds, cleaning the kitty potty, and playing! What’s not to like?!! :)
Not all kennels (or dogs) are created equal. My dog gets anxious around other dogs, so a good friend pet/cat/house sits. My parents dog, however, loves going to his kennel which is also a doggie day care, he spends his time romping with other dogs and comes back exhausted, but happy. :)
We own a boarding kennel and totally resent this! Sure there may be some untrustworthy places out there but this “comic” basically slanders a whole industry. Do your research and get referals before leaving your dog somewhere but don’t just assume all kennels are the same. The dogs that stay with us have a great time!

Where we take our dog is called a “Pet Resort,” not a kennel. She seems to like it.
