    I have to laugh at my varmint that follows me from room to room and lays at my feet, and sometimes in my lap but not this summer.

    At this moment I have a cat in my lap – had to move the laptop to accomodate her.

    When my cat was a wee kitten, he would sit on my feet while I washed the dishes. When I took the dog for a walk, I had to sit down from time to time to rest, so the kitten would race around, doing whatever kittens do, and then come sit on my feet to let me know he was ready to be carried to the next stop on the route.

    We always speak to both cats and to all three dogs. The dogs and one cat always acknowledge the attention. One cat is cranky.

    What does it lay at your feet? Hair balls

    There are pictures of naked cats on the computer. Hence Ludwig’s apparent interest.

    They did a great strip about the son growing up and getting married but now that he’s settled in the restaurant with his wife and her child – nothing?

    total number of A&J strips- number of A&J strips with the stupid cat.

    = number of funny A&J strips

    And DOSQueen; don’t have adult kids, do you? I’d like to see more of Gene & Mary Lou as well, but A&J has always had a certain realism………

    I have an alarm cat. Monday-Friday, he makes sure I’m awake and out of bed in time to get to work on time. Saturday, he doesn’t bother me. Sunday, he gets me up in time for Sunday School and Church. How smart is that?

    @Peter Gelach

    Except they did lots of story lines with Gene and Mary Lou which didn’t feature Arlo and/or Janis at all. It wouldn’t be necessary for A&J to see or even talk to Gene for Johnson to let us know what is going on with them.

    I must say I don’t get today’s strip. But reading some of the other comments, I’ll share this: In the early days of our marriage, my wife and I had a cat that would follow me like a dog. She would be out in front of the house; I would go out the back door and she would come around to see what I was doing. When I would walk to the communal mailbox at the end of the road, she would follow me to the mailbox and wait, either in the grass or on the macadam, for me to get done; then, when I headed for home, she would follow me back to the house. I would go in the back; she would go back around to the front to hunt whatever she’d been stalking. When she had a litter, we kept one of the three kittens. This kitten eventually adopted his mother’s habit; I would then have two cats follow me like dogs to the mailbox and back. I never made one attempt to teach the cats to follow me; they did it on their own. And I’ve never seen a cat act like that around anyone since.

    The cat likes Arlo better. He doesn’t yell at Ludwig for sleeping on the bed like Janis. He sleeps on Arlo, not Janis. Janis loves him but Arlo talks to him and tells him stories.
