Republicans/Fox “news” viewers do not want the health care system in America to be improved. -If questioned directly, they will respond ‘well, not Obamacare’, or will say ‘uh, my health care is just fine’ without responding directly.-They do not want American citizens to receive better health care.
The anti-Obamacare propagandistas are very smooth and persuasive, but won’t make much ground with those who have pre-existing conditions, or those who have young adult children who still can’t afford insurance. At healthcare.gov you can read what is really going to happen. One good lie is that the uninsured will be paying $2,000. Maybe in red states who are throwing monkey wrenches at it, but those in blue states with blue legislators will be doing fine.About Onguard’s photo, even a donkey can’t work if abused by loads too big. Even an elephant can be abused with overload too.
“The ACA was passed and accepted by Congress after debating its merits and the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act!”
Yes, they passed it, but I am baffled as to how they could have debated something they haven’t read, had no intention of reading until it passed.
Whatever it does, we are stuck with it, until we can change it. Changes are simple, but recent history has shown us that changes made to existing laws tend to favour providers, not clients nor patients.
The thing is yet another gift to industry at our expense, and the odds that we can get it improved in our favour seem too long to me to be a viable betting proposition.
What I’m pretty sure of is that it’s not going to help most of those who need it. For the rest, more of the same.
“Painting the other side as monsters proves you want your way or nothing.”-Does this mean that people who don’t want our health care system to be improved are monsters? Does Mitch McConnell know you think that?
I love a guy who uses the word “braniac” as an insult. Yes, to you conservatives, smart people are a threat. Why “think” about something when you can think with your gut or shoot from the hip or whatever it is that conservatives do in lieu of thinking.I’d ask “just how stupid can you be?”But you’d take it as a challenge.
This whole thing with the Republicans wanting to do away with the ACA and replace it with something else, but not offering any viable plans reminds me of a neighbor I had a few years back. There was a planter between our two front yards, and the old neighbor and I had split the caretaking responsibilities down the middle (literally). A new neighbor moves in, and one weekend, while we’re away, he tears out everything in the planter, including our plants. When I asked him why, he said he had plans to put in beautiful new plants and make it a showplace..Two years later it was still empty. We put up a fence and replanted our 1/2.The Republicans want to tear down, but they have little ability or interest in rebuilding.
Joadtom: I have no problem admitting it at all. I am a Green. We have always supported single-payer, I especially since have experienced it when I lived in Canada. Indeed, there is a very good model law in that regard, essentially needing only two words changed: province to state and Canada to United States.

I’d be delighted to be wrong on this, though.
