Iraq, Rwanda, Libya, Myanmar (Burma), pick a point on the globe, and you’ll find a tyrant nearby, especially in the “third world”. But also, look at U.S. and Soviet (now Russia) taking sides in those countries, and we have nearly a century of stupidity, and deaths.
WW II was “legitimate” when a true tyranny threatened, but the mask of tyranny also is often hidden by “good will”, especially when the profit motive gets involved. Wars fought for oil and resources are rapidly catching up to those fought for “God”, and currently, that’s become a very narrow line of division.
Russia wants to keep its Mediterranean Naval Base. If we made a deal to give that piece of land to Russia while we carve up Syria, the Russians would drop al-Assad.
Saudis weak militarily? Now granted Wahabbi, like bin Laden, may be among the more radically extreme, especially at suppressing women’s rights, their purchases from us haven’t hardly made them “militarily weak” for the last several decades. (Granted, air power, but as they’re under oil company wings, they aren’t in much danger, it isn’t just “Obama”.)

“I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul; a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country.”
Government? My take is that the average Joe in any country just wants a job, wants to take care of his family and have a government that he can count on. The government may be corrupt – but at least one knows this and count on it. But one that gasses your neighborhood – maybe your family ?? Can’t count on much there can we??
