Erma: Alix? Do you know something about this huge, invasive crawdad? Alix: Um, well... Alix: I MIGHT'VE caught him at a lake and then...let him go here... Erma: WHAT?! Crawdad: @*! Erma: If you weren't 9, you'd be in big trouble. Alix: I'll warn Gramma. She helped me and she's WAY older than 9.

In Grandma and Alix’s defense, the lake is very close to where they live and is an invasive species there as well. However, they did note that this crawdad was ‘the biggest they had ever seen’ and that should have given them a hint.

Oh boy, Alix! Way to throw Gramma under the bus!

Well, It was Gramma who decided they should let the monster go by putting it in the creek, so she’s pretty guilty, too. Good lesson though for Alex about not messing with Mother Nature.

I think that Alix is truly worried about Gramma -but in her unconscious nine-year-old way, she’s incriminating her. WTG, Jan, for educating your readers!

We were taught from an early age to respect nature. Look, examine and then leave it. But my Dad was one of a kind….

“What? No one representing PETA?”.You don’t know much about PETA do you? PETA is very much guilty when it comes to introducing non-native species to places where they do not belong. Look at the reports of PETA setting loose fur farm ferrets in England and other such stories.

The crawdads I caught as a kid, couldn’t swear but they could pinch and then I’d swear. Same result

The latest solution to invasive species (really!) – people should be eating them. We’re a natural predator for practically everything.

they should’ve eaten him. Or her. How DOES one tell the difference? Oh, never mind, don’t need to know.
