It’s time to stop getting suckered into these things to appear “tough”, especially to those pushing for it, until it looks like he might do something. Terrible as the situation is, we do NOT need to make things worse, again.
I miss Bill Clinton. He just dropped some bombs on Sudan real quick-like after the embassy bombings and left it at that. Couldn’t we have done that already, as soon as we were certain Syria used nerve agent? Geez.
The following is a list of Obama’s positive accomplishment for America:.. ... ... ... ... .Thank you for your attentionI tried to think of one more, but couldn’t.
While I agree that we should never have gone into Iraq, I find your partisanship in this message disturbing. McNamara lied about the Gulf of Tonkin, which was the precipitant to escalation into war in Vietnam, but somehow, you fail to mention it.
Why do we keep saying we will not tolerate crimes against humanity, genocide, mass murder, etc.? Keep standing tall and saying “Never Again!” Saying those things is the same as saying we will DO something about them. Which we won’t. At least, not unless our own interests are involved in other ways. I don’t know that we have any other choice, so long as the world is organized as it is. What astonishes me, is although everyone in the discussion on this page, left and right, seems to pretty much agree that Syria is not our concern, and that we should not get involved, they still feel obliged to sneer and spit at one another while they agree with them. What hope has that watchword of the American Revolution, “United We Stand, Divided We Fall,” when we are so nasty to one another even when we agree? (Personally, I think one side is more guilty of this crap than the other … but there is no need here to say which one.)
I will admit that far too many Democrats were either a) too easily fooled by the lies coming from the Cheney White House; or b) fearful of being seen as lax on anti-terrorism so soon after 9/11. I was angry when the War in Iraq started, I’m still angry about it now. I do not want the US further involved in Syria (even missiles fired from off-shore would be a mistake at this time). But I will never forgive Colin Powell for the “vial of anthrax” presentation or any of the other dis-information that The White House spread to advance their sinister agenda.I wholly agree with you that it was money driving this aggression.
“Sorry, Syrian civilians. There’s too much money to be gotten by killing you.”.War – when rich old men send poor young men to die to advance their financial interests. We’ve a plethora of war criminals in this country (and to my chagrin some of them are Democrats).
The Liberal Media is reporting the Gas Assad used was sent him by Saddam before the UN was allowed to search for WMD’s.
Yes, Saddam did indeed have WMD’s, Syria is proof he them because Assad is using them."-Yeah, Assad’s use of chemical weapons is just proof positive that Saddam supplied them. After all, they were all stamped ‘MADE IN IRAQ’, and what further proof would anyone need.-You’ve gotta admire Saddam’s minions who spirited ALL the chemical weapons out of Iraq on short notice, leaving no trace of the program behind.-Oh yeah, and it was strictly because of them chemical weapons that we invaded Iraq. Curveball had all that information about them chemical weapons.
NIght gaun: slight correction: Mobil Oil put the house of Saud in power in 1923. Years later, when Saudis “nationalized” the oil company, they put Mobil in charge of running it, yep, “big” chanage!

America needs to kick the meddling habit. We already have a mess, er, country to take care of. (Not to mention a climate.)

Even Fidel Castro came out of his column writing retirement to say that attacking Syria is a bad idea. (Huffpost)

^That’s phosgene, not “mustard”, but yes, can be quite lethal. You can also get it by burning PVC pipe.
