I still remember taking the bus in middle school, I used to get off one stop ahead, it was closer to my house, if I cut between the houses. Now everyone on that side of the street has fenced in back yards.

As long as 30 years ago, little children in my town were bused right past other schools and no one complained. Those schools were for different grades; everyone in the same grade went to the same school. It goes back to my contention that objection to busing was an attempt to preserve Jim Crow and we will soon see it again as that zombie corvus rises from its grave thanks to the Koch Kourt Klan.

david_42, what grade were you in? I only rode a bus for high school. We could get off or on anywhere.

I do not remember ever driving one of the two cars we had to classes. My father taught at the local Jr high and walked often.

I only rode a bus in third grade. They didn’t have many funds for the buses, so we often rode in fancy coaches, but we still had the drafty, uncomfortable ones, too; cheaper to rent, I guess… ;)

Bus?..Sniff……snort..Only the Lincoln Continental was good enough for me…Just kidding..school was 1 block away and I had to make sure my dog Sugar was in the backyard so she wouldn’t follow me down the block ( she did once..Mr Clayton wasn’t amused in Chemistry)

I went to a Catholic school from grades 1 to 8 . . . and rode the bus to and from school every day. That was back in the mid-70’s to the early 80’s.
