Somehow I missed yesterday’s comic and ensuing hilarious discussions. I’d like t add Hedley to the list of Canadian groups. For some reason they are very popular.

What about Mike Myers, Neve Campbell, Howie Mandel, John Candy, Jim Carrey, Kiefer Sutherland, Christopher Plummer, Rick Moranis, Nathan Filion, Catherine O’Hara, Collin Mockrie, Leslie Nielson, Michael J. Fox, Martin Short, Ryan Gosling (yes, he’s Canadian, born here in Ontario!), Margot Kidder, Eugene Levy, Jason Priestly, Ryan Reynolds, Dan Akkroyd, Evangeline Lilly, Rachel McAdams, Sandra Oh, Eric McCormack, Seth Rogan, Alan Thicke? They’re all Canadian, too.

Also, the stuff about banning the Bible or Bible speech isn’t true at all. We have freedom of religion up here. I suspect we’re not really all that different from America with the whole “banning prayer in school” stuff. But, I know for a fact, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, that we have the freedom to speak of the Bible. My son is not banned from bringing his Bible to school (high school), or from speaking about it.

All in all, I think we just get used to the rules we have wherever we live. Honestly, though, I think much of it is media-driven. I’ve heard some Canadian people say that they’d be afraid to live in the States, and others who LOVE the idea of living there. I, personally, love living in Ontario because it’s so beautiful, but I haven’t been privileged enough to see other beautiful areas of the world. So I suppose I just love what I know best. :)

All I can say is, we don’t shoot visiting athletes in the back for fun, here in Canada. As for all that stuff Nabuquduriuzhur was spouting, my church just finished running a community wide vacation bible school last week, and we’re shutting down the street for a church/community block party in a couple of weekends… so far no one has complained about our references to God, Jesus or the Bible, nor has our pastor been imprisoned. But then again, I LIVE in Canada, I don’t simply read people’s opinions about it.

Canadians are our greatest and closest friends. They’ve been right there with us wherever we go, even when it’s stupid, as in Iraq…..They were awesome in WWI and WWII….They deserve not just our respect, but our friendship. Good people, and a noble country…..
