So they were in on it. But just how “in” were they?

I don’t think they were “in” on it. I think Maude made the connection that Linda was a Topsider, from back when Octavius implied it during the trial.

Her husband had been killed by Topsiders, and so the ‘pretending’ can refer to ‘we can stop pretending we’re friends’.

True speculations, maybe they’re both topsiders? Will be curious to see how it pans out.

I sure don’t know what Maude is angry with Linda about. Linda has done pretty well becoming a mutant. She had a hard time but got thru it. I think she is refer-ing to stop pretending to be friends. What should have brought them together as allies to keep each other’s hope up, obviously didn’t happen. And she could easily been lied to and told Linda had killed her husband, or maybe she did, but not knowing that she would ever in a hundred years meet his widow.I would like to think that neither one was in on the plot. Just before they got arrested, they were enjoying each other’s company. Plus Linda may have no idea what she is mad about. It is sometimes a mystery. “What did I do?” can be the most honest thing to wonder about. So unless this has to do with Linda’s nightmare, and she has no remembrance of doing anything, then Maude needs to give Linda an appology.

We all love Maud and hate to see her hurt. WE all think that Linda will ""save the day""". Well.. Plan on about Oct. Sigh. I was thinking that Marx could go back in time and NOT fill the place up with cigs.Blessed Be

Does anyone think that maybe what Maude is referring to is the fact that Linda openly used mutant generated products; rather than keeping it low key like everyone else. I think the people of Endtown were using mutant products to supplement their diets; but doing so on the q.t..

Or Maud got resolute about no longer make a secret out of using Mutant byproducts and going to proclaim the rightfulness of it. Would prefere this over Topsider resentment.

It may be simply because she did something stupid like bake a cake in public and get the three of them dungeoned for a month.

Somewhere, Maude discovered that Linda was a TSer. Even Holly warned Linda about making sure that by keeping her nose clean the possibility wouldn’t be discovered. I’m not sure that even Endtowners are aware that mutants who were TSers are completely ostracized and nothing more than targets. Either way Linda will have a rough go in Endtown once the secret gets out, and Maude just loves JJ. Linda will be a target again. Linda herself just wants to get by in her new life, making friends along the way. She just might show up at the hospital to visit. I hope not as a patient or worse, as a corpse as the current situation is going. Endtown is beginning to turn into JJ’s little playground if he isn’t stopped. There’s some good story possibilities here to think about.

I’m REALLY curious on what AM’s “greater good” is here. In case anyone noticed, just before he disappeared, he referred to JJ as “rodent”, not Jacob…

I think Maude means she knows that Linda used to be a Topsider, and she blames her and her people in general for her husband’s death. There’s no reason to think either Maude or Linda was complicit in the Allgood frame-up case. As I’ve said, it was likely they would choose Jackrabbit as a defender, but if that did not happen spontaneously, Aaron Marx would have had a hundred other ways to make sure Jackrabbit ended up as the knight in shining armour.

If I recall correctly, Maude’s husband was killed while foraging topside. It’s possible that Linda was the one who pulled the trigger. How anybody in Endtown could find that out is another question.

Oh !@#$ This doesn’t look good. But here’s something that everyone should know. Wallie was one of them topsiders.

I was thinking that Maude may have the idea that Linda was in cahoots with Jacob. Maybe she pieced together the fact that the whole thing had been a setup and erroneously thinks Linda was a willing conspirator.

You have to know that in any undertaking there is always the possibility for unintended consequences. This little shindig of Allgood’s has produced nothing but….

The fact that Maude is staring at her picture with Sam is key. Sam was killed by Topsiders. Maude has either been told that Linda was a former Topsider or has inferred it from Allgood’s questioning. The only other possibility involves Linda’s actions getting her into a situation where she had to deal with Octavius insulting the memory of her husband but I’m guessing its the Topsider angle.

The simplest explanation is most likely true. Maude found out what Linda was doing as a Topsider.

By the way, along the lines of looking for the simplest explanation…who prints up their postapocalyptic photos? And where are they getting the paper?

There may be a misperception here also. Maude may be referring to the cake while Linda is supposing it’s her Topsider past. That’s what usually happens when someone says “You know what you’ve done….”

    Speaking from previous experience…..

Wabbit,Unfortunately the people who usually say this are in such an emotional tizzy that they aren’t in the mood to be “fair”. In their minds, the offending party has done something SO over the line that the notion that they must somehow be fair to them seems absurd. Things like this are why I prefer to live alone.

Maude is looking at a picture of her and her husband and crying… possibly reliving when he was killed by Topsiders. Linda the recently-ex-topsider comes knocking; and grief becomes anger. Maude likely had just learned of Linda’s history; which refreshed the impact of Maude’s loss. Maybe….

What I find very effective is that though Maude and Linda cannot see each other here, their facial expressions make it appear as if they actually are face to face.
