What on Earth are you talking about? All large corporations spy on one another for economic advantage, and all of the developed countries of the world (who are greatly controlled by those wealthy corporations) do the same, including Germany. That is simply the nature of Darwinian Capitalism, and should never be taken personally by the individual people of those countries.

And all of this posting on this and other sites about the governmental snooping is just plain silly. If the US government (or any other government for that matter) was truly interested in prosecuting those posters that complain about said governments, then at least all of the ultra conservatives on this site (who are constantly so complaining) would now be incarcerated in federal penitentiaries, and no longer posting on this site. As this is plainly not the case, then all of this talk if just so much hot air. On the other hand, if you are plotting to violently overthrow said governments on this internet, then perhaps you might actually have something to worry about!!

That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. There are isolationist groups in both parties just as there are internationalists in both parties.

“we don’t need no help from nobody, especially not the U.S.”The U.S. spends approximately $10 billion per year ‘defending’ Germany. Are your fellow Germans prepared to take on this cost themselves? Lose this revenue? Ramp up rearmament? Do your European neighbors want this to happen?

“Obama is a Republican”I was thinking the other day about how many the GOP’s minority candidates have angry, pessimistic, confrontational political styles. Think Allen West, Ted Cruz or Ben Carson. They need candidates who have the sunny optimism of Reagan. They need a Black Reagan. Then I realized Obama is the Black Reagan.

This is brilliant. It encapsulates U.S. foreign policy—left, right, and center—for the past 70 years or so. The U.S. might be in better shape if we realized that we, too, live in the middle of the street, and are dodging deadly traffic day in and day out. Should we help other countries? Well, duh. Of course we should. Should we try to remake every society on earth to be more like our own? Obviously not. A little more humility would do wonders for the the U.S..

Actually, German cars are excellent, when running. They are notorious for having costly repairs and trips to the mechanic.BMW stands for Big Money Waster.

corzak: An occupying army is not “defending” what it is occupying. Germany didn’t invite us; they lost WW-II – in 1945. Were you even alive then? Are you now?

Obama would have been welcome in the GOP before 94 & the Gingrich “revolution”. Since then the GOP has gone off the deep end.
