Good morning Vagabonds.Going to be another hot one today. Not as bad as yesterday which reached 95. So far we have had 18 days above 90.@JanCinLV:I agree with your comment yesterday on Fox Trot about people wanting to rename 9/11 Patriot Day. That is not an appropriate name for the day. We already have a Patriot’s Day here in Boston on April 19th that commemorates the victory over the British at Bunker Hill.It is also the day of the Boston Marathon which was the scene of the tragic bombing this April.
Morning, Vagabonds. We’ve got relatives coming in this evening to help us celebrate the house. Saturday we’re providing a BBQ for all the people who helped us put this house together. Without them, this project never would have gotten done and we’re just trying to say Thank You to all who helped. BTW, if any of my Vagabond friends are going to be in the southeast Texas area, please drop by. I’m serious. Email me to get directions to the house. Both Arye and Slim have my email address. I’m serious.
Woke up before sunrise this a.m. Absolutely gorgeous out! Took this picture just as the sun crested the mountain.
I agree with Jan and Woodworker…………..why don’t they just leave things alone! We are all intelligent enough to remember the numbers 9/11 and what it means to all of us!!!!
Thanks for your generous offer, David…………no plans that I know of………………..why don’t all of us meet somewhere in the middle of the country? hee hee
Ooo, let’s ALL descend on David. Should be a great party! Seriously, though, thank you for the invitation but we won’t be in the area.
Woodworker, the part that I object to is the naming. To give the day a name is to celebrate it. There is nothing about that day that I want to celebrate. Remember, yes. Celebrate, no. I found the “Blondie” tribute a less-than-appropriate, jokey, celebratory mockery of what happened.
Still damp here, both from rain and from humidity. The good news is that the temp is staying about 80 or less, so it’s not as bad as it could be. The low pressure system is supposed to be moving on by tomorrow, to be replaced by a hot and dry high pressure system. I’ll take hot and dry over this sticky humidity any day!
Sweetbill, I still have the Non-sequitur printed strip from a Sunday at the end of September 01 hanging on the wall in my home office. It shows a pair of hands reaching down from the clouds to the twin towers with a fireman and a policeman floating up to them. No words, just a beautiful tribute.
