Manning was a fool. He allowed himself to be swayed by Lasange, and used.

As a soldier Manning agreed to give up his right to be a whistleblower. Any Vet will tell you, soldiers fall under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, not civil law. Manning accepted access to classified material. Again, when you accept this access you also accept additional limitations on your rights. If you can’t take the heat, don’t go in the kitchen. The boy knew what he was doing.

There are ways to protest what the government is doing. Yes, they are slow and often unsatisfying. But they do work However, Manning, and Snowden as well, are weasly little pricks. They wanted to be big men. So rather than taking the slow, safe, legal way, they took the fast, sexy way, the one that gets you on TV, where those ignorant to how things work will call you a hero

Manning and Snowden are right there with the Boston Bombers and the Aurora Shooter. Ignorant, disconnected kids that commit social destructive acts because they don’t live in reality.

So who gets to decide what’s classified and what isn’t? The gov’t misuses the classification system to hide its failings.

You forget that conservatives still think that releasing the Pentagon Papers and exposing Nixon’s lies and crimes was a treasonous act. They also think that Senator Joe McCarthy was a misunderstood patriot.
