    Actually, last year I did a paper on the whole “McDonald’s is making our kids fat!” hysteria as part of my MBA.[]As part of it, I found two people who claimed to have lost weight while on a McDonald’s diet and kept records to show it (one used a modified Atkins plan; the other would substitute for healthier items, such as a side salad instead of fries) and an athlete who has found a way to incorporate the occasional McDonald’s run into his diet. []In contrast, the guy behind “Super-Size Me” never kept any sort of record of just what he did and didn’t eat, meaning that the film is academically unacceptable due to there being no way to verify Spurlock’s claims.[]Put this all together, and it becomes apparent that fast food in and of itself is not to blame, but rather one’s attitudes towards it. Basically, a box of chicken nuggets once or twice a week is fine; eating chicken nuggets three meals a day, seven days a week is not. [](And if people are wondering, school lunches play a far more critical role in juvenile health than any one fast-food company. Lunches that are unhealthy – both due to too many calories and too few calories – will lead to unhealthy kids.)
