Yeah, Knievel tried. But as I remember, the whole thing was an anticlimax. His parachute deployed early, and everyone was disappointed.

Evil Knievel didn’t attempt the Grand Canyon (as I recall). The rocket “motorcycle” jump was over the Snake River Canyon in Idaho, and his chute deployed early.
