Those big box stores always cause waste.

I agree. I don’t buy in bulk a lot, but if I DO, I know that it is something I can keep fresh while using it and WILL actually USE that amount. I have purchased 15# of ground cinnamon because I like to use it a lot and sealed tightly in a dark cabinet it stores well. and 25# of almond flour more recently (storage ditto) and it makes gluten free crackers that are actually YUMMY! (at grocery stores, 1#=$11, in bulk it was less than $5 per #).

Oh yes it does spoil. After a few months it starts to smell like paint.

I shop at Sam’s Club but I have 3 teen boys in the house so nothing lasts too long at all.

I buy kleenex, toilet paper, laundry detergent, garbage bags, stuff like that in bulk at the grocery store when it’s good prices or it’s on sale and I have a coupon too. Buy bulk I guess I should say the size on sale, not huge packages like those clubs offer.

And, poor Claire, cleaning up olive oil is a a pain in the butt. I once dropped a 17 ounce bottle of Pompeian on the floor, and it broke, and what a mess! Band new bottle too!

When I was in Pharmacy school (I graduated in 1956!), I had a professor who claimed you weren’t a pharmacist until you could pour from a gallon bottle into a thimble and not spill a drop! I was never quite THAT good but I could and still can pour pretty darned precisely.

I usually purchase the huge container of olive oil, but pour some of it into a smaller bottle that I use on a regular basis. Some things I do buy in bulk, especially cereal which goes real quick in my house.
