I’m no fan of the Windsors, but I’d take them over Honey Boo Boo any day.

Except that the royal family contribute to their country in a positive way (however little). The other two are only famous for being famous.

I can handle the British infatuation with the baby, but why are Americans so worked up. Granted I’m with Lonecat, I can take the baby over the Kardassians and BooBoo Honey.I’m going to ignore the whole mess and get ready for the new season of Duck Dynasty

I’m a nationalist, but republican canatian who wants the monarchy off my 20$ bills, but I have sympathy for them as human beings. I mean, it’s a pain to have a town gossip after you, imagine having the whole World! And the guy lost his mother in an accident involving paparazites, they should leave his wife alone!

Whoever comes out of there, IF that kid ever becomes king or queen, I don’t think he’ll be king/queen of Canada. Things are changing.

I would be of the opinion that they discuss people. People don’t live in a vacuum; they live in cultures, so of course these writers write about the culture, including its ideas. But there’s a difference. Compare Henry James with his brother William. You need to read more novels.

A couple of days ago, Chelsea Handler was arguing that Canada was part of the United Kingdom. Her 3 guests were arguing that Canada wasn’t part of the United Kingdom, but they disagreed what countries were. Funny show.

suggested “The British really don’t have anything else to live for. The royal family is the Brits as Honey Boo Boo and Kim Kardashian is to Americans.”

I was watching CNN while outside the UK this past week and I was amused to see how often the Americans brought up the royal baby thing. As for nothing else, I understand there are a couple of programmes whose characters they refer to as “Towies” and another with folks from Chelsea. Goes over my head when I’m at the water-cooler. But otherwise, yeah, they are a tad do-lally at the moment with this baby thing. You’re allowed 42 days to register your baby’s name. It has been noted that more babies have not been registered that soon after their births the past couple of weeks or so (mine was registered 6 or 7 days later; my nephew 4 or 5 weeks later).I’m going to err on the cautious side and say it’s because they don’t want their kids’ names to clash with the Royal baby’s name. :-|

By the way, my mother knows someone who works in St Maryºs. Quite bizarre some of the security measures they have had put in place.

lonecat said“I’m no fan of the Windsors, but I’d take them over Honey Boo Boo any day.” I don’t care much for them either but they have a lovely back garden called the town of Windsor. Just been on a casual tour around Windsor with my bike (no hills! My knees are shot). Glorious weather, lovely countryside. Lovely cold Dutch lagers. :-| (What? you want me to drink the room temperature ales? Room temp atm is 30ºC+);p:ahem.Never heard of Henry James? William James? :-| Methinks I should stick to fermented cultures.

The press’s infatuation with the “royalty” is disturbing. I remember when they seemed to want to make John Kennedy Jr. into royalty. It’s as if they would like to subjugate us to it again it they could.

I HOPE THE BABY WAS BORN A WEEK AGO, AND ALL IS WELL, AND THE MEDIA TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY LOOK LIKE FOOLS FOR MISSING THE STORY!
