Thank you for the translation Mr. Gonzalez. I wouldn’t have understood the Rebus otherwise. Also its nice to see the lovely Ms. Melba again. I wouldn’t mind another storyline with Rufus if she was in it.

So that’s the Mayor Melba that he was trying to marry to collect a 100 grand. Here I thought she was an older woman.

Time passes in this strip, as Walt is now over 100. However, Rufus and Joel haven’t aged at all (or much) in the time since Dick Moores was doing the strip. I own the ROVER tpb that was done in the 80’s and they look about the same. Melba appears to have aged a bit, her hair is gray in these strips.

And those pine trees—-those weeds—-that nicely-drawn peach—-I wonder if Rufus is as artistically accomplished as Jim Scancarelli! It’s obvious he practices—-

I watched Concentration [with Hugh Downs and Bob Clayton] but I never new the puzzles were called rebuses until I read GA today.

Miss Melba’s holding her own, although she’s gone grey and no longer showing off her cleavage… her blouse is still slipping off one shoulder, however!
